Britons urged not to join 13.5-hour for Queen lying in state queue

Hundreds of thousands of mourners have queued to see the Queen’s coffin, which has been lying in state since Wednesday at 5pm. But the queue is set to end “within hours” as the wait time has hit 13.5 hours, and the lying in state period is set to end at 6.30am on Monday morning. Long queues consistently over 12 hours have been recorded ever since the body of the late monarch was brought to London and the line is now set to close. On Saturday morning, wait times were recorded at over 25 hours, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport confirmed. The Government is now said to be monitoring the numbers closely before deciding when to officially close the queue. A Government source warned that “some people will, unfortunately, miss out” on seeing the late monarch’s coffin.
