The Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee will hold its first meeting on Thursday on the “cash for query” allegation against TMC MP Mahua Moitra, with BJP parliamentarian and the complainant Nishikant Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai scheduled to record their statements. In his complaint to Speaker Om Birla, Dubey has cited documents shared by Dehadrai. Birla has referred the matter to the committee headed by BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar. Fourth earthquake jolts Afghanistan

An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter Scale jolted Afghanistan on Thursday, the National Centre for Seismology informed. According to NCS, the earthquake occurred at 1.09 am (IST) at a depth of 150 kms. Significantly, this is the fourth earthquake to strike the impoverished nation in quick succession and comes just a week after a strong earthquake in Herat province claimed over 4,000 lives. Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter Scale jolted Afghanistan on October 15. Before that, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 rocked Afghanistan on October 13. Another earthquake of magnitude 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted the country earlier on October 11.

PM Modi to inaugurate National Games in Goa today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra and Goa on October 26 to unveil development initiatives and inaugurate the National Games.
He will inaugurate the 37th National Games being held in Goa for the first time. The Games will be held from October 26 to November 9 and more than 10,000 athletes from across the country will compete in over 43 sports disciplines across 28 venues.

The Prime Minister will reach Shirdi in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra around 1 pm and perform “pooja and darshan” at Saibaba Samadhi Temple. He will also inaugurate the new Darshan Queue Complex at the temple.

At around 2 pm, the Prime Minister will perform the Jal Pujan of Nilwande Dam and dedicate a canal network of the dam to the nation.

At around 3:15 pm, the Prime Minister will attend a public programme in Shirdi, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth about Rs 7500 crore in sectors like health, rail, road and oil and gas. During his visit to Goa, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the National Games at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao, Goa. He will also address athletes taking part in the Games.
