Police investigating shooting outside Lane County Fair

One person was taken to the hospital Friday night after being shot in the parking lot outside the Lane County Fair, according to Eugene Police.

Police and medics responded just before 9 p.m. to reports of gunshots outside the fairgrounds, according to a news release. Medics treated a man at Friendly and 16th who had been shot before taking him to a hospital. Police did not provide the age or condition of the man.

Eugene Police Lt. Chuck Salsbury said police received a report of a dispute that was occurring that quickly escalated to multiple shots being fired.

Police have not identified a suspect and said they believe they had left the area. It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting. Police said they have secured the area.

At least 30 cars were blocked from leaving the parking lot because of the shooting investigation.
