On August 29, millions of Londoners will face a new charge as the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be expanded across all of Greater London.
The change will see a new daily charge of £12.50 to all residents that drive a vehicle that does not meet emissions standards.
Proposed by Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) the zone is in place to help battle London’s toxic air crisis.
As TfL states: “The ULEZ aims to improve air quality by reducing the number of vehicles in London that don’t meet emissions standards.
“94% of vehicles seen driving in the current zone now meet the strict emissions standards on an average day, significantly higher than the 39% in 2017 when the ULEZ was first announced.”
The postcodes affected by the ULEZ expansion
The expansion will mean that many new residents in Greater London will be affected by the ULEZ.
The ULEZ postcode checker lets you type in your postcode and will inform you if you will be covered by the expansion.
The blue highlighted area shows the regions that are currently covered by the ULEZ whilst the yellow highlighted are the areas being covered under the expansion.
For example, the Bromley postcode of BR1 1DE, will be included in the expansion as shown by the yellow highlight.
