Motorists travelling between Tamworth and Gunnedah can consider using the New England Highway and Kamilaroi Highway via Willow Tree.

Heavy traffic is expected in the area this afternoon as people travel to nearby Tamworth for the NRL clash between the Tigers and Rabbitohs.

The diversions will add approximately one hour of travel time to the journey from Gunnedah to Tamworth.
