Traffic and travel: Road users face delays on Dublin’s M50 after multiple crashes amid icy


Road users told to be wary of icy conditions as yellow weather warnings issued

There are delays on the M50 this morning following a number of crashes, including a three-vehicle collision.

The incident happened on the M50 at Junction 16 –Cherrywood in the northbound direction early on Friday morning.

There was also another collision on the M50 between Junction 6 – Blanchardstown and Junction 5 – Finglas in the northbound direction.

The incident has now been cleared but heavy delays remain in the area.

Freezing temperatures will continue for the country today with motorists advised of hazardous road conditions as a second ice warning comes into effect from this evening.

Temperatures are to drop as low as -4 degrees tonight with sharp frost and icy patches forming overnight. Some counties, most likely in the northwest, will see showers fall as sleet or snow.

A Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning, issued by Met Éireann for the entire country came into effect on Thursday at 5pm and remains in place until midday today.
