Turkish Airlines opens direct flights to Sri Lanka

Turkish Airlines commenced direct flight services with Sri Lanka and the first flight arrived at Katunayake Airport today morning (October 30).

Turkish Airlines had been operating its flight services to Katunayake Airport via Maldives for 10 years, but with the commencement of direct flight services, the number of passengers coming from Turkey to Sri Lanka will increase three times, according to Chairman, Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka Ltd. Major General (Retd) G. A. Chandrasiri.

Accordingly, Turkish Airlines’ first flight TK-730 arrived at Katunayake Airport from Istanbul, Turkey at 05.40 am with 261 passengers. They left with 209 passengers to Istanbul.

Every week flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. These flights arrive from Turkey at 05.40 am and return to Katunayake at 07.40 am.

From 2024, Turkish Airlines will operate to Katunayake Airport daily.
