UK tourists in Orlando react to death of Queen Elizabeth II

ORLANDO, Fla. – Just hours after the confirmation of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, British tourists in Orlando expressed sadness for her loss.

While visiting International Drive on Thursday night, Bradley Norton said he served five years in the British Royal Navy.

“She’s on your stamp, she’s on your note (printed currency). She is everywhere. She’s the head of the Commonwealth. She’s the head of state of lots of places, Australia for example, so yeah, it is sad,” Norton said.

Norton also said people should be inspired by how the late queen continued to make public appearances up until the very near end of her life.

“The queen was always opening venues and everything still up until this year. Two-hundred-plus venues a year, she was doing. So you know, how many of you are going to be working until you are 96 years old?” Norton said.

Also visiting from the U.K., Lee Bluitt said the queen’s death is a loss for the entire world.

“I’m sad. It’s a bad day, man. It’s a bad day,” Buitt said.

Bluitt also said that with the popularity of the monarchy, he hopes it doesn’t go away in future generations.

“We are just a small island, aren’t we? You know what I mean. We are a small island, and we’ve always had the monarchy and hopefully always have the monarchy,” Bluitt said.

The Pub Orlando, a British-themed restaurant on International Drive, set up a tribute display to the queen near their entrance on Thursday.
