US has ‘banned’ these for 4 Chinese technology companies for helping military – Times of

The US Commerce Department has blacklisted four Chinese companies for allegedly supplying artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China’s military modernization programs. This move comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and China. The companies are among 11 additions to the Commerce Department Entity List posted by the government this week

The list is one of the tools that the US is using to stop sensitive American goods and technology from falling into the wrong hands. US has also issued sweeping restrictions on shipping advanced semiconductors and chip making equipment to China to keep US technology from China’s military modernization.

The banned Chinese IT companies include:
* Linkzol (Beijing) Technology Co
* Xi’an Like Innovative Information Technology Co,
* Beijing Anwise Technology Co and
* SITONHOLY (Tianjin) Co.

According to a report in Reuters, Kevin Kurland, an export enforcement official, the blacklisted companies were involved in acquiring US AI chips for Chinese military use. Being placed on the Entity List makes it very difficult for these companies to obtain American goods and technology.

China Denies Wrongdoing, Vows to Respond
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, rejected the U.S. claims, calling them an attempt to “contain and suppress” Chinese companies. China threatened to take “necessary steps” to protect its interests.

The U.S. also restricted exports to five other companies accused of aiding drone production and procurement for Russia’s war in Ukraine and Iranian attacks in the Red Sea. These companies included a Chinese firm, Jiangxi Xintuo Enterprise Co, allegedly involved in supporting Russia’s drone program, and a network of companies supplying drone components to Iran.

China again condemned the U.S. actions, arguing they disrupt normal economic cooperation with Russia.
