UPDATE #1 @ 1025 UK time – American Airlines flight AA63, originally bound for Miami from Paris, made a u-turn off the west coast of France during this emergency broadcast.

UPDATE #2 @ 1026 UK time – N772AN, the aircraft involved in this emergency, is a 25 year old Boeing 777-223ER that was delivered to the U.S carrier back in March 1999, as per data from Planespotters.

Of the 777-200 variant, the U.S carrier has 47 of them in the fleet, of which 44 are in active service and three are parked, offering an average fleet age of 23.2 years.
