Asian Games 2023 live: Get Day 1 scores and results of Indian athletes and players


Welcome to Olympics.com’s live coverage of the first day of the Asian Games 2023, held in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China! 

While sporting events kicked off early last week, the official opening day of the Asian Games 2023 is today.

Day 1 will see the first medal rounds of the Asian Games 2023 and India could be in the mix of bagging their first silverware in Hangzhou. India’s medal hopes on Sunday rests on rowing, swimming, shooting and fencing.

India start their day with shooting, cricket and fencing. The Indian women’s cricket team will face Bangladesh in the semi-finals.

The Indian men’s and women’s football teams will also be in action later in the day. The Indian men’s hockey team, seeking a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will begin their campaign today. 

India’s world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen will also make her Asian Games debut with a bout against Vietnam’s Thi Tam Nguyen in the women’s 50kg round of 32.

The Indian men’s volleyball team and the table tennis teams, meanwhile, will continue their charge.

Meanwhile, five gold medals are on offer in swimming for India. India’s rowers will also race across five finals today.

Tennis, chess and wushu are also on the agenda for India today at the Asian Games 2023. Esports, meanwhile, will make its debut with FC Online.
