Eastern NL Digging Out After Snow Storm

Avalon Peninsula, Clarenville area and Marystown area residents are digging out from a snowstorm that virtually shut down the region yesterday afternoon.

Things such as schools, businesses, and public transit all shut down yesterday as the eastern triangle was hit with heavy snowfall and strong winds.

A little over 25 cm of fresh snow is on the ground and there are delayed openings and morning closures outside the metro region.

While the storm itself has moved off, Environment Canada Meteorologist David Neal says the winds will start out strong.

He says winds will still be gusting up around 60 km/h, but will diminish throughout the day.
