General Hospital Suffers Yet Another Loss: Jon Lindstrom Mourns a’ Brilliant’ Colleague

On December 9, General Hospital leading man Jon Lindstrom took to Instagram to share that he had been “so saddened to learn of the passing of the great Bob Miller.”

Who was Miller? “Bob was a brilliant costume designer” who for years worked for General Hospital and sister soap Port Charles, the actor explained. He “was even responsible for the look of Kevin Collins when he appeared” on the ABC soap. “I believe it was Bob’s idea that Kevin would never wear a white shirt, something that is still rare today.

“He and his partner Steve Howard worked very closely together,” he added, “so much so that we named the fictitious designer who dressed Lucy Coe so beautifully for the Nurses’ Ball ‘Bob Steve.’”

Lindstrom wowed Miller as well. “Bob was impressed my cousin was Donfeld, a four-time Oscar-nominated costume designer” who worked on such films as Spaceballs, Prizzi’s Honor and The Days of Wine and Roses. “Don was frankly pretty impressed with Bob and Steve’s work.” In addition to General Hospital, Miller had worked on the first Star Trek movie as well as the original Dallas and Fame TV series.

On the daytime drama, “we do heightened reality,” Miller told the L.A. Times in 1995. “People who work at the hospital make a little more money than they probably do in real life. They dress up probably a little more than they do in real life… The jewelry is a little bolder, or maybe a teenager would be wearing something she couldn’t afford… So the person who works in the diner is wearing sweats, but they’re Joan Vass, which someone who works in a diner wouldn’t wear.”

In closing his post, Lindstrom expressed his wish that Miller rest in peace. Review the below photo gallery to pay your respects to more soap greats who passed away in 2023. Sadly, it’s been a rough year for daytime and for General Hospital in particular.
