In Paris, Mugler’s Casey Cadwallader and Chioma Nnadi Hosted a Fabulous Fete With Vogue100

Saturday night, by the glow of a glittering Eiffel Tower, British Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi and Mugler’s Casey Cadwallader hosted a spectacular dinner to kick off Vogue World: Paris and the Haute Couture Week.

In partnership with Vogue100, the two tastemakers gathered a group of artists, musicians, and philanthropists at La Suite Girafe Restaurant, the glamorous eatery in the 16th arrondissement. A cool breeze blew through the terrace adorned with gorgeous summer arrangements by Flower.Fr, adding to the cinematic atmosphere. The sun remained strong and golden until nearly 10 PM.

Singers Becky G and Normani came to support the designer. Amina Muaddi, renowned for her eponymous shoe line, sparkled in a silver and black dress. French model Cindy Bruna stunned in a cut-up red gown. Attendees showed off the latest looks designed by Cadwallader as well as pieces from the brand’s archive.

Manfred Thierry Mugler launched the company in the 1970s. In the subsequent decades, his name became synonymous with sexuality, rebellion, and glamour. Under Cadwallader’s leadership, the brand, which faded in 2002 after the founder’s retirement, has reemerged as a major player in the industry. The American-born designer’s architectural training shows in his masterful corsetry and sublime constructions. Like Mugler before him, Cadwallader transforms the female form into the object of fantasy and illusion.

Chioma Nnadi, since assuming her leadership position at British Vogue, has infused the magazine with an electric, youthful energy. Her latest covers—FKA Twigs perching on a taxi, Sophie Turner defiantly staring into the camera, Mona Tougaard and Central Cee dripping in diamonds— reflect an irreverent and invigorated perspective of the future of fashion.

Grilled cod and truffle pasta provided the perfect midsummer supper. Of course, the topic on everyone’s lips was Vogue World: Paris. Sunday, a celebration of fashion unlike any other, will take over Place Vendôme. The electric excitement gave the dinner a night-before-Christmas thrill, with guests swapping predictions and rumors about the many surprises. Certainly, the house of Mugler, with its incredible mark of French (and global) cultural history, will be well represented.
