Live news: French inflation comes in higher than expected at 5.7%

Microsoft will remove its video app Teams from its Office offering in the face of concerns that it is undermining competitors, in a bid to stop the EU from pressing ahead with an antitrust probe.

The tech giant said on Thursday that it will also make it easier for competing apps to work with Microsoft systems.

It comes weeks after the European Commission, the executive body of the EU, opened an investigation and three years after Slack, now owned by Salesforce, formally complained to Brussels over anti-competitive behaviour.

Teams will still be available for customers to buy at €5 per month or €60 per year, Microsoft’s vice-president of European government affairs, Nanna-Louise Linde, added in a blog post.
