Preston traffic as A6 closed and man found with serious injuries


Welcome to today’s updates for all the traffic, travel and other updates affecting Preston.

Police are advising motorists using the A6 in Forton to seek alternative routes this morning, after they were called out at 6.05am today (27 Sept) and found a man with serious injuries in a vehicle on a grass verge. Emergency services are at the scene and the road is likely to be closed for some time.




It comes as city is set to be hit by Storm Agnes with heavy winds battering the town. The Met Office has issued a weather warning running from lunchtime until Thursday morning and warns of possible danger to life.

Its forecast for today states: “A settled start though winds strengthening with the arrival of Storm Agnes. Severe gales possible, especially along the coasts and over the hills accompanied by outbreaks of heavy rain into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 18 °C.”

Full police statement

We were called at around 6.05am today (Wednesday, September 27th) to reports of a vehicle in a grass verge on the A6 near Forton.

Emergency services attended and found a man in the vehicle with serious injuries.

We are still at the scene and the road will be closed for several hours, in both directions, between the School Lane junction and the Station Lane junction.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use the motorway if possible.

In a statement to LancsLive, Lancashire Constabulary said a man suffered serious injuries in the crash. The road is likely to be closed for several hours while investigations continue

LancsLive has asked Lancashire Constabulary for more information on the collision. The latest update from traffic monitoring service Inrix says: “A6 Preston Lancaster Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from School Lane to Station Lane.”
