Oil steady; market eyes OPEC+ meet, weak demand indicators

Oil was little changed on Thursday as investors remained cautious ahead of expected production cuts by the OPEC+ group, and as weaker-than-expected Chinese factory data underscored slowing growth in the world’s second largest economy.

Brent crude futures climbed 13 cents, or 0.2%, to $83.23 a barrel by 0740 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 17 cents, or 0.2%, at $78.03 a barrel.

Japan’s Nikkei rallies to best month in two years

Japan’s Nikkei share average rose on Thursday to book its best month in two years, as bets that U.S. interest rates have peaked buoyed equities globally.

Japanese stocks also got a boost from a robust corporate earnings season earlier this month, as a weaker yen buoyed exporters and retailers successfully passed on higher costs to consumers.

Major cryptocurrencies were trading mixed on Thursday. Bitcoin (-0.08%), Ethereum (-1%), BNB (-0.8%), Polkadot (-2.1), and Shiba Inu (-1.4%) were trading in the red, while Solana (3.3%), Dogecoin (0.5%), Toncoin (0.3%), Polygon (1%), and Avalanche (2.6%) were trading in the green.

Meanwhile, the global cryptocurrency market cap declined by 0.14% to around $1.43 trillion in the last 24 hours.

At 10.55 a.m., BTC was trading 0.08% lower at $37,937. In the last 24 hours, the market cap of Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, fell to $741 billion.

India’s Tata Technologies jumped as much as 180% in its trading debut on Thursday, valuing the first Tata Group company to go public in nearly two decades at Rs 567.94 billion ($6.8 billion).The company, which provides engineering and technology services to auto, aero and heavy machinery makers, surged past its initial public offer (IPO) price of Rs 500 to debut at Rs 1,200 rupees. The stock scaled as high as Rs 1,400.
