Thunderbolts* Rumored Plot Outline Revealed

Marvel Studios has managed to keep the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie largely under wraps, including the mysterious asterisk added to the title just before filming. Despite some unconfirmed leaks and cast interviews, the project remains a well-kept secret.

According to industry scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), the film starts with Yelena Belova, U.S. Agent, Ghost, and Taskmaster being sent by Contessa Valentina Allegra De Fontaine to eliminate an unknown target in a vault. The crew soon discovers they were sent to the strange location to die. They decide to team up to take down Val. It’s unclear how Sentry, Red Guardian, and The Winter Soldier fit in, but one of them might be the target.

A Guide to the MCU’s Thunderbolts

The Thunderbolts are one of the most interesting lineups in the MCU so far, so let’s take a look at who will be appearing in the upcoming film.

While details about Thunderbolts* remain scarce, Olga Kurylenko, who plays Taskmaster in the film, previously addressed the minor title change without giving too much away. “Well, they changed a couple of things,” the actor said. “That’s all I can say, but that also doesn’t say anything, because obviously every movie is different, and in every movie, things change. But yeah, it will be different. We’ll see. There’s nothing I can say.”

Thunderbolts* is the final Phase Five MCU film

A now-deleted behind-the-scenes photo made its way onto social media in early May. The image featured Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes in a traditional suit and a goatee. The new look sparked speculation that he’s either working undercover during his group’s mission for the U.S. Government or simply changed his appearance. Thunderbolts* is the first live-action MCU appearance by Stan since the 2021 Disney+ miniseries, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
